Will Power

I have none. :D

It's a train wreck. Dieting, writing, posting, cleaning the house... These last two weeks have been horrible! I can't seem to get anything accomplished. But, I did go to my daughter's first kindergarten field trip. Imagine 120 five-year-olds in a two acre corn maze. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. But it wasn't. I chaperoned Audrey and three of her classmates. We did the maze, rode on the hay ride and picked out pumpkins.

The Hub is out of town this week (again).

I'm trying to cook more. Bleh.

And my house is finally finished being painted! Woo-hoo! It's now a beautiful slate gray-ish green with white trim and black shutters and doors -- looks very colonial/classy. Far better that the coral doors and light tan (which looked pink to me).

And, lastly, I'm going on a new diet -- right after I finish the chocolate cookies I baked yesterday. :) All the other junk food is already gone. Hmm, wonder where it went... Anyone else dieting or going to? I'm going low carb b/c that seems to be the only thing that has worked for me in the past.

Good luck on the diet thing, Kelly! One very important thing that I noticed in myself and others is eating dinner early (I eat about 6:00pm) and then NO snacking after that. Okay, so maybe some popcorn or something. :) And change from white breat to whole wheat (if you haven't already) -- that will make a BIG difference.

And congrats on getting the house painted! I know what a chore it can be to live there while work is being done . . . but how wonderful it is afterwards. :) Any other plans for the house? I'm thinking Spencer might like a cute little house that matches the big one . . . LOL

Hey Kelly!

It's Yolanda here - fellow Katie Mac minion ;). Found you blog through Shawn's and thought I'd say "HI!"

Cool blog BTW...

About the dieting thing. I think diet's a yucky word that never works. Personally, the last six months the hubby and I have totally overhauled the eating routine. Which includes no white bread at all (like Jennifer said) but yes to the grains, absolutely NO takeout and especially no eating after 7pm. It's essential to go to bed 2-3 hours after your last meal. Oh, and don't forget exercise. We do Yoga and TotalGym three times a week and go walking every day for at least an hour.

Trust me, it's all working! And at the same time our daughter (5) is learning to stay active with us.

Good luck with it Kelly!

Hi Yolanda! Cyber hug! So glad you found your way to my blog. :D

I agree with you, and Jennifer. I've cut the white bread, and after talking with my dad (who has gone 'organic' with most of his food), I'm going to look at it as more of a healthier way to eat versus 'just another diet'. I think the hard part for me will be not eating anything between dinner and bedtime -- a very hard habit to break. But, I'm going to give it a shot...

Oh, I totally agree! The snacking between dinner and bedtime was a hard and weird thing to do at first. I'd get all hungry at around 8:30pm and think "Ooooh, I could really have a little something now!" but after a few weeks, it became easy.

Now I don't even think about it, it's kinda second nature.

Good luck with it... you can do it! :)

Congrats on getting the house painted. We need to get ours stained (it's cedar siding) and a new roof put on. Ah, the joys of home ownership. :)

I do think that thinking of the food thing as just a focus on healthier eating choices rather than a diet is key. I think we're hardwired to freak out and automatically get hungrier when we're on a "diet". It is a four-letter word, ya know. :)
