I dub thee Steve

I always write my books with a title already in place -- okay, correction -- I have always written my books with a title. Current manuscript does not have a title. It's really starting to bug me. There's something so uninspiring about working on "untitled" or 'Book 2".

So I henceforth dub said manuscript as 'Steve'. Why? Well, because everything unknown in my house is called 'Steve', due to the night my daughter was watching Jeopardy with us and spontaneously shouted out "Steve!" to some question about 18th century artists. Picture us rolling on the floor in tears.

I do need a real title, though . . .

There's always the option to turn to your readers for inspiration. If I might draw on a rather famous example, Monty Python's Flying Circus was not the original title for the show - it was what they stuck on it when they started filming the first episode. Original ideas were things like Owl-Stretching Time (my favorite), A Horse, A Bucket, and a Spoon, and Sex & Violence. So you never know what you're going to end up with.

I think A Pound of Prevention is a great title, although I have nothing to go with it.

Good luck with Steve.

Thanks, LeeAnn. :D

I'm hoping as I write this thing that a phrase will spark an awesome title. There is one that when I wrote it, I thought might be a possible title, but not sure yet...

My husband's comment to this was that your title should be "Insert Awesome Title Here".

After I stopped laughing, I realized that I needed to pass that on to you. Enjoy.

Told you I'd come snooping!!!! And now I'm jealous. I want to have a wip called Steve as well. Mine normally get dubbed with very rude names which I then have to remember never to use in public!!!!

LOL, tell your husband, I'm gonna use that one, LeeAnn!

Hi Amanda! So cool you came for a visit. Plain and simple -- you rock. :D

When in doubt I tend to call my stories by the names of their main characters. It would drive me bonkers not to have any kind of title (temporary or permanent). Well, here's hoping you find the perfect title along the way.

Hee hee. Steve. Love it. How about "Work of Genius, 2"? That sounds a bit better than "book" right? :)
