It looks like SHADOWS BEFORE THE SUN will, indeed, be the last Charlie Madigan novel to be released by my publisher (though they are releasing a short story this summer--woo! More on that awesomeness in a sec).
The books have been incredibly well received, and I'm so proud of that. That was the primary job I set out to do. I appreciate everyone who took the time to write to me, to talk about the books, to promote them, and write about them on Amazon and Goodreads, and blogs and elsewhere. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
There is a wonderful silver lining in all this, folks, and I hope you'll stay with me and see it too. This decision does not mean the fate of Charlie & Co. has come to an irrevocable end. Obviously the way I left SHADOWS BEFORE THE SUN, there are things left undone. I cannot say, at this moment, when I will write more as I am working on what pays me and thus pays my bills. But I have other options, which I found I enjoy after getting my feet wet with EMBERS IN A DARK FROST. (Isn't the cover beautiful? I'm tickled to say that book, which I wrote as Kelly Keaton, hit the #1 Kindle Historical Fantasy Bestseller List last week.)
The good thing about Indie publishing is that we won't have the long wait between when a book is finished and when it is released, so when I do have the opportunity to write another Charlie, it should hit the market relatively soon after edits, proofing, etc.
A good plus and yet another silver lining of, yes, I'm saying it twice, awesomeness is that the CARNIEPUNK anthology will be out in July and therein you'll find a story about Emma and Rex. Very excited about this project, people! So, not an entire CM novel, but an emotional, action-packed installment in the CM world. And if you have liked my series, your support with CARNIEPUNK would be incredibly appreciated.
Once again, a big thanks to everyone for sticking with the series thus far. I have been so fortunate to have met so many wonderful readers, to have made lasting connections and friends, to have worked with an AH-MAZING editor and publisher.
I'm gonna keep keeping on...
*hugs* :-)
